From my latest read:
"Generally speaking, most of us would prefer not to have a surgeon taking charge during a normal life event. And obstetricians are surgeons, a fact you forget at your peril....
That obstetricians are surgeons who believe in surgery is further illustrated by a study that asked women health practitioners and laywomen if they would choose to have a surgical birth (cesarean section) rather than a vaginal birth if there was no medical indication of a need for a cesarean. Four percent of midwives said they would; 5 percent of laywomen said they would; and 46 percent of women doctors said they would."
SCARY!!! No wonder the c-section rate is so high, many obstetricians themselves believe they are a better way to give birth.
(From Born in the USA: How a Broken Maternity System Must be Fixed to Put Women and Children First) I highly recommend this book, or the book Pushed.

REALLY?! I cannot imagine choosing major abdominal surgery over nature if there were no medical indication. Do doctors not realize that merely having a c-section triples the maternal mortality rate (and that's in pregnancies considered "low risk")? Wow.
Jason and Sarah-
So, this has nothing to do with c-sections ... but didn't know how else to contact you. We are moving into our new house this next weekend and are wondering if you guys would maybe like to come visit us sometime this fall.
